How going “Keto” helped me lose 30lbs in 6 months!
Hi All, my name is Annie and to quickly introduce myself, I use to come to crossfit 3x a week from the months of Apr 2018-Aug 2018! I absolutely fell in love with the sport, but even though I felt myself getting stronger, I wasn’t seeing any physical changes in my body (i.e shrinking!). I remembered Coach Jeff saying that diet is an essential part to seeing results and I definitely justified a lot more unhealthy choices because I was working out. From there, I decided to take a step back from crossfit and start my journey of a new sustainable lifestyle diet called keto!
To quickly summarize, the keto diet is a high fat, adequate protein, low carb diet. The basis of the diet is to restrict your carbohydrate consumption so your body hits a “ketogenic” state where instead of burning carbohydrates for energy, your body burns fat instead. I am in no way a nutritionist, but to help me get started, I read a few posts to understand the basics of keto. I’ve copied a couple links below so you can do your research too!
In this day and age, social media literally rules everything around you, and to some, it’s not the right direction society is being taken, BUT I disagree, especially with the community I’ve been exposed to since starting. There are SO MANY blogs that offer free meal ideas, recipes, tips, and so much more!
I want to state that everybody’s journey is so different, but Keto has helped me see food in a different light, ignited my passion for cooking again, and I still get to enjoy so many of my favorite foods! Below I’m going to attach a quick tip list and some additional social media links I’ve “saved” to help me officially say I’m a keto diet success story!
Quick Tips & Links:
• Download & use a carb counting app that you input your meals into- I use/d the free app “Carb Manager”. You can upgrade and pay to have more access to additional content, but I found the free version worked just fine!
• Don’t give up because you cheated. Every day is a new day, and start it in a positive mindset. It’s not easy to give up carbs!
• If you like to cook, this diet will be just as fun for you as it was for me, If you don’t like to cook, it’s just as easy! There are so many quick recipes and ready to eat meals/ snacks you can find anywhere (or close to)!
